Don "Woodkayaker" McCumber is a Florida Master Naturalist who has been kayaking in Southwest Florida for over 25 years. He is the driving force behind Everglades Kayaking and brings unparalleled knowledge of this ecosystem to every tour he leads.
A member of several local kayak clubs, Don has led countless trips, organized "Kayak Camping 101" to help introduce new paddlers to Everglades wilderness camping, and helped found the "No Motor Angler's Club" — now a thriving community of 300+ kayak fishers in Southwest Florida.
Don is dedicated to the experiential education of students, families, and travelers from Florida, the Americas, and the World. In his words: "Only through education do we have the opportunity to preserve the Everglades, its culture, and its heritage."
Whether he's leading a morning mangrove tunnel tour, a multi-night kayak camping expedition, or an alligators-and-orchids photography paddle, Don brings the same passion, knowledge, and dedication to every single guest who steps into one of his kayaks.
